We at the Sash & Case Restoration Company are qualified and experienced joiners and painters specialising in the restoration & renovation of traditional sash and case timber windows. We’re based in Edinburgh and most of our work comes from the elegant Victorian and Georgian housing stock in the city – but we also work in the Lothians in commercial and public property as well as residential houses and flats.
We are experts in timber sash and windows and we undertake all aspects of restoration, draught proofing, double glazing and painting. A typical restoration project would involve repairing the existing sashes & sills, box lining repairs, sanding the existing paint from the sashes, repainting and draught proofing your sash and case windows so they look and work like new, at a surprisingly affordable price. We’re also happy to carry out smaller repairs, for example fixing or replacing weather damaged windowsills, refitting sash cords, glazing repairs and ironmongery.
We work mostly in conservation areas, on listed buildings, on grant aided projects and with heritage organisations. This means we can anticipate special requirements and offer informed advice to homeowners, architects and project managers.
Of course you may want to replace old sash windows with new double glazed windows. We make and install beautiful new timber sash and case windows to suit the original style of your home perfectly. These are acceptable in many conservation areas and listed buildings – and they’re always an attractive alternative to modern PVCu frames, wherever you live.
We can, depending on the condition of your existing sashes remove the existing glass router the check in the sash deeper & fit either slim or standard 22mm double glazed units depending on your needs of if that’s not possible supply & fit new double glazed sashes to your existing cases.
Our double glazed units are made using heat reflective glass & are filled with argon insulating gas with a UV rating in line with British standard requirements & offer a lengthy guarantee.
