Listed Building Consent

Submit online applications of drawings along with a photographic Condition Report to support the application via the City of Edinburgh Council website for listed building consent.

Planning Permission

In most cases, you may not require planning permission to replace existing windows or change them like-for-like without needing permission.
However, there are certain considerations to keep in mind:

Conservation Areas

If your property is located in a conservation area and you're altering the overall external appearance of the building
(e.g., changing from timber to UPVC), planning permission is required.

Listed Buildings

For properties designated as listed buildings, listed building consent is necessary for any alterations to windows.
This includes installing double glazing.
